Valentines Day - May We Suggest Sparkling Wine?
By: Paul Grand
On this Valentine’s Day may we suggest celebrating with a sparkling wine?
Sparkling wines are produced throughout the world, and are identified by a number of different names such as Champagne, Cava, and Prosecco. The following are a few suggestions to add a little sparkle to your celebration. Korbel Brut Rose is delicate and crisp, with flavors of strawberries and melon. It is medium-dry and is very versatile with food. The folks at Korbel suggest pairing it with grilled shrimp, pizza and smoked meats. Korbel also produces a “Sweet Rose” featuring bright fruit flavors and aromas of raspberry and vanilla. Korbel Sweet Rose pairs sinfully well with dark chocolate and chocolate covered strawberries!
Prosecco has become very popular recently and the Cupcake Prosecco from Italy is refreshing and lively on the palate with aromas of white peach, honeydew and grapefruit. Spain produces excellent sparkling wines called Cava, which offer outstanding value. Castillo Perelada Brut Reserva is made in the Metodo Tradicional of producing sparkling wine in Spain. It is well balanced and elegant with delicate citrus and subtle nutty nuances on the palate. If you prefer a Champagne this Valentine’s Day, may we suggest the Perrier-Jouet, and elegant selection that is certain to add to the romance of this special day.
